Exciting News: Launch of SAIS Bao’an’s American Football Team!
We are thrilled to officially announce the formation of our school’s American Football team, set to launch in November 2024!
This is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage in a dynamic sport that promotes teamwork, discipline, and athletic excellence.
To lead our team, we have invited the highly prestigious Coach Awal Umaru, whose exceptional coaching experience and impressive player career make him the perfect fit for our school.
Coach Umaru holds degrees in Physical Education and Business Administration from the University of St. Francis and Union College. His accolades include being named the 2012 MSFA All-League Best Defensive Player, the 2013 Preseason All-American Honorable Mention, and the 2018 Portugal League MVP Champion, making him a remarkable addition to our athletic program.
In his coaching career, Coach Umaru has achieved significant milestones, including:
·2017-2018: Head Coach – Offensive Coordinator and Special Teams Coordinator, leading a 65-player football team to its first national championship in Portugal, a historic achievement in American football!
·2022: Head Coach / Offensive Coordinator for Mutsport Youth Football Team & Al-Bahra Youth Football Team, where he empowered young athletes to excel on the field and clinched the Saudi Youth League Championship.
American Football will be integrated into our school’s Physical Education curriculum, allowing students to develop their physical coordination and skills while enhancing their physical fitness and fostering camaraderie. Whether your child is a seasoned player or new to the sport, we encourage all students to join and experience the thrill of American Football!
