Creativity takes courage.” — Henri Matisse

Under the inspiring guidance of Ms. Nat, our talented Art and Design teacher, the first SAIS Art Exhibition for middle and high school students has opened at the Bao’an campus.

This exhibition is a celebration of self-expression and creativity, showcasing the extraordinary talents and visions of our young artists.

Grades 6 and 7 bring us whimsical charcoal and chalk pastel self-portraits inspired by Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, along with intricate animal symmetry drawings and playful Halloween-themed clay sculptures. These pieces highlight the students’ early exploration of artistic techniques, infused with their unique perspectives.

Grades 8 and 9 tackle bolder projects like graffiti-inspired name signs and vivid line art landscapes inspired by Banksy, as well as Kusama-inspired pumpkin lamps and infinity rooms. These works reveal the students’ experimentation with color, perspective, and personal identity.

High School and AP Art students take on complex themes through anime-inspired anatomy studies, Neurographic art, and skeletal drawings, blending technical skill with introspection. AP Art History students add a historical dimension with impressive recreations of Stonehenge and Roman sculptures, bringing the ancient world to life.

More than an art show, this exhibition embodies the SAIS motto: “Everyone is an artist—show us your voice!” We invite everyone to visit and experience the creativity, passion, and depth that each student has poured into their work. Discover how art has allowed them to “find themselves and lose themselves,” inspiring us all to see that true creativity does indeed take courage.
